“Join us in finding the next-generation of learning systems capable of reasoning causally about the world.”

The hessian.AI DEPTH research group lab on Causality And neUro-Symbolic artificial intElligence (CAUSE) was led by Dr. Devendra Singh Dhami, during his time as a postdoctoral researcher in TU Darmstadt’s Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AIML) Lab by Prof. Dr. Kristian Kersting. He received his PhD from University of Texas at Dallas. His research interests are multi-faceted and continue to be centered around building causal models, neuro-symbolic AI, probabilistic models (incorporating relational information and causality) and graph neural networks. He is especially interested in the intersection of causality and neuro-symbolic AI where the causal models inform neuro-symbolic models and vice versa in order to learn better systems.

The CAUSE Lab was founded in 2022 as a DEPTH junior research group (Nachwuchsgruppe) within the Hessian Center for Artificial Intelligence (hessian.AI) and the state-funded research-cluster The Third Wave of Artificial Intelligence (3AI), both coordinated by the Technical University of Darmstadt (TU Darmstadt).
